Solid Weekend for Flying Dutchman Racing

The Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals are being held at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Speedway in Southern California this weekend. It has been beautiful weather for racing - partly cloudy and cool….

One of the classes that are a lot of fun to watch is the Top Sportsman class. These cars are full bodied cars, that run over 200mph, and consistency in ET’s are rewarded! After three qualifying rounds, the car is dialed in, and given a target ET that it needs to stay close to throughout the rest of the competition. This allows you to have a wide variety of cars competing in the same class - the slower cars are given the appropriate “head start”, so that at the finish line, the two cars should be neck and neck!

One of the teams competing in this class is Flying Dutchman Racing, a team put together by Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson, the owner of In-N-Out Burger. Lynsi’s father had a passion for cars and racing, so when she started racing at the age of 18, she only wanted to race under her dad’s name, “Flying Dutchman.”

Lynsi and her team were putting up consistent numbers all weekend, recording win after win! It was awesome to see that Chevelle flying down the strip at over 200mph! Quarter Mile Results by run:

  • Qualifying Run 1: 6.532 ET @ 210mph

  • Qualifying Run 2: 6.511 ET @ 211mph

  • Qualifying Run 3: 6.515 ET @ 211mph

  • Elimination Round 1: 6.487 ET @213mph

  • Chris Newman in car 7589

  • Kenneth Ratzloff in car 664

Best of luck to these four finalists, and again a special thanks to Lynsi for continuing the tradition her father started by racing under the “Flying Dutchman” name, and keeping the quarter mile alive and kicking in So Cal by becoming the lead sponsor of the track!
