Lady Viking Hoops CIF Rd 1
February 12, 2026 — Valencia, CA
The Vikings, who went undefeated in league play, started off their CIF tournament by hosting the Cowboys from Chino last Thursday. Playoffs always add just a little more spice to the emotions going into the game, but it was great to see that the girls were relaxed and having fun as they warmed up pre-game, and that carried into game play.
Typically, Valencia likes to pressure hard and gain a substantial lead in the opening minutes, but Chino had other plans. They were a formidable team, and kept it close in the beginning, but as the minutes went on, the pressure did not relent, and that took a toll on Chino, as the Vikings started to expand their lead little by little.
I joked with Kira before the game and told her just to get us up by 30, so we could breathe a little, and ultimately the Vikings won the match by 32 points with a final score of 76-44.
The team then traveled for their 2nd round game on Saturday, which they won, and looking forward to the next round!
