TMU Sweeps Mount Mercy in NAIA Opener

APRIL 30, 2025 - Cedar Rapids, IA

The top NAIA Men’s Volleyball teams converged to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the National Tournament Championship this week, and The Master’s University came away from its first matchup with a win. Even though TMU was considered the “home team” on the scoreboard, Mount Mercy had the upper hand in the arena with a home town crowd cheering them on!

The first set saw competitive play between both teams, but TMU pulled ahead and never looked back. The second set, however, was a different story! Mount Mercy mounted an offensive that drove TMU to dig deep, if they were going to take the set. Five times TMU had set point, and dropped it to Mount Mercy, but in the end The Master’s pulled out the 30-28 point set 2 win. It was pretty exciting for fans, but a bit worrisome to the fans of TMU! In the end, Master’s pulled out the 3 set sweep, and get ready to play PARK in tonight’s round 2 of pool play.
